Southport Airshow

This weekend we went to Southport Airshow

It was our first time

It was Mini M’s first proper airshow, he’d been to watch the planes at Blackpool last year but didn’t like the jets

It was Baby M’s first airshow

Mr M is a plane geek. He’s a RAF brat, he’s always loved planes. He’s off to RIAT next weekend which is one of the UK’s biggest airshows

We headed to the beach with our factor 50 sun cream for the boys, as well as a blanket & ear defenders

The sea front is closed off so you can only get to the beach if you’ve bought a ticket, we got ours online so they were about £8, under 5’s are free so the boys didn’t cost anything

There is the village where you can meet different pilots & parts of the armed forces as well as buy merchandise. There was another area with static vehicles & eaty places.

We found a great spot on the wall

There were so many amazing displays. It started at 1pm & finished just before 5 with a magnificent display from the Typhoon (Mini M needed his ear defenders)

We loved The Blades, they put on a fantastic display

The Red Bull Matadors were incredible the way they threw their planes around in the air. The same pilots flew the Spitfire Pair later in the display too

Mr M loved the Mustang & when the Blenheim flew with the Spitfire pair.

The MIG 15 did a bomb drop on the beach which was quite impressive

We will definitely go again

We had an excellent day

I love the heart in the sky – we saw it at the Airbourne air show in Eastbourne last year, which is extra cool as it’s all completely free 🙂 #countrykids

What perfect conditions for an airshow. The sky couldn’t have been more blue. I must say I find the fighter planes a little scary, perhaps I’ve watched too many war films! The heart on the other hand is a lovely touch. What a great sounding day for all the family.

Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids

Oh wow, it looks great! I love the heart in the sky 🙂 I haven’t seen an airshow for years, but I’m feeling especially inspired to go to one as the Red Arrows flew over less than an hour ago! I’m glad the little ones enjoyed it – I’m not sure whether my toddler would like it or be scared. Perhaps when she’s a little older! #CountryKids

Sounds like a great day out and just our sort of thing. We looked at going to Fairford this year but the prices really put us off as I’d only just got back from the Grand Prix. This sounds like a much cheaper alternative #CountryKids

I’ve never been to an air show. Your pics and description make me want to take my kiddo to one. Looks like a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
