HECK Plant-based Sausages – review

November is World Vegan Month

After four years in development, Yorkshire-based banger and burger company HECK is adding a delicious range of plant-based sausages to its line-up.

Made from delicious, wholesome, plant-based ingredients (no fake meat), the range includes four recipes, each gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Sweet Fusion: fragrant Thai pesto, sweet potato & sticky rice – I loved the texture and taste for these.  In future I think I would use them in something like a stir fry.  These were Mini M’s favourite

The Beet Goes On: beetroot, carrot, chilli and horseradish – I really liked these, they taste great with a slight kick in the after taste.  These were my favourite

Super Greens: quinoa, spinach, kale, ginger and mint – I wasn’t too keen on these but I am not a fan of things with mint in as that’s all I can ever taste.  Mr M loved these though

Bollywood: cauliflower, green lentils, pulses and seeds, spiced with chilli, ginger, cumin and turmeric – these had a great kick and taste.  I think these were Mr M’s favourite

I put the Beet Goes on in a sausage casserole but ate the others either in a roll for lunch or with mashed potato

I didn’t tell Mr M these were plant-based sausages until we had them all.  He had no idea & really enjoyed them.  Even he was surprise as he said they tasted really nice & he thought they were just flavoured sausages.  We will definitely buy them again as something a bit different than what we would normally buy

Soya, dairy, wheat and gluten-free, the range is registered with both The Vegetarian Society and The Vegan Society.

The full range is available from Asda stores nationwide. Super Greens Sausages and Sweet Fusion Sausages are available from larger Sainsbury’s nationwide. £3 for a pack of six sausages.
