February is now here
Many people make new year’s resolutions about fitness or health goals but not many stick it out
A local gym to me had free membership for January, no strings attached, I signed up but I never went
I’ve been running in preparation for my half marathon in May, I think having a goal or focus helps me stick to something
New research from Superdrug has revealed that for 6 out of 10 Brits a simple compliment in January is the way to stay motivated with New Year goals, with 88% believing more compliments need to be given in January than any other month to encourage, inspire and motivate during the bleak cold winter.
Dr Becky Spelman, Registered Practitioner Psychologist & member of BABCP backs the findings, saying, “When it comes to getting fit, losing weight, or focusing on our health, positive acknowledgement is very useful. Hearing that we are looking good from people, and that the time and effort we have invested in our health are bearing fruit, actually spurs us on to do even more.”
I have to say I agree, when I hear someone tell me – “you look great” or “you’re doing well” I seem to do more or repeat whatever they are complimenting me on
Superdrug have a range of Some Body products to help us stay healthy
Superdrug Some Body is their new health and wellness range to encourage and inspire you to reach your goals. They created innovative products from nutritious protein powders, ready to go drinks to beauty boosting supplements to promote a healthy lifestyle that benefits the mind, body and soul
I was sent the Vanilla Whey Protein Powder, Sweet & Salt Popcorn & Pancake Mix
The Superdrug Some Body Pure Whey Protein Powder in Vanilla (£17.99) is ideal for making a yummy shake while you work out. Adding extra protein to your diet will achieve lean, healthy muscles and curb those sugar cravings. It’s 600g & you need 40g with 400ml of water, milk, coconut or almond milk to make your shake so you get about 15 shakes
I loved the Sweet & Salt Popcorn (79p). Some Body popcorn is dairy free, vegan and gluten free. Made from the finest natural, wholegrain butterfly corn, and with only 116 calories per pack the sweet and salty popcorn delivers an intense blend of sweet and salty flavours. Enjoy as part of a healthy, active lifestyle. I would definitely get this again, although with most snack items about half the bag is actually popcorn, the rest is air!
My favourite product was the Protein Pancake Mix (£3.99 for 4 sachets). I used 2 sachets with 160ml to make 4 pancakes. In the first batch I added blueberries & a couple of days later I added mashed banana to the second batch
I had the pancakes on days I had a long run.
I loved them, so did Mr M & Mini M. My parents brought back some sugar free maple syrup from America for Mr M as he is diabetic so I drizzled some of that on as well
I will get the pancake mix again & I did like the popcorn. I’m not a huge shake drinker but it was nice!
I definitely think having tasty products to help you be healthy makes you stay healthy. As well as people giving you a compliment!
